Greetings!
Over the last year or so, I was able to test drive the i20 N-Line, Petrol and Diesel to decide which one to buy.
Of the 3, I noticed that the N-Line felt a tad bit sharper to drive and the steering felt a little more weighted than the other 2.
I ended up going for the Diesel MT though, considering it's not going to be primarily driven by me. Despite this over the last month or so I did drive it around quite a bit and missed a more weighted steering, considering my daily driver is an Innova Crysta.
Was wondering if anyone has figured out what exactly is different technically with the N-Line's steering and if anyone has explored swapping the parts to make their i20's steering feel like the one on the N-Line.
Here's what GTO had to say on the matter:
Hyundai or its dealers won't entertain this request, else who will buy the N-Line variant?
Before you reach the dealership for the N-Line's steering tune & feel, do the simplest thing. Upgrade your tyres to something fatter. 205 mm rubber? That will alone add some weight & heft to your steering. If you choose some really good sticky tyres from premium brands, your car will outhandle a stock N-Line.
Here's what BHPian Kosfactor had to say on the matter:
Drive the i20 around for some more months, I think it is too early to reach the conclusion that you need to swap something out in your new car.
If the part numbers of the normal i20 turbo petrol are the same as the diesel, you may be able to swap out the N-line suspension on your diesel, else the swap may not work since diesel engines tend to be a bit heavier, and you will feel that weight on the steering and it is not nice to drive a nose heavy car.
