The Suzuki YRA, which was displayed as the iK-2 concept at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, will make its global debut at Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15, 2015.
With the premiere just a month away, Suzuki has released a teaser video of the car. This video reveals that the car will be called Baleno in international markets, reviving a name that was dropped many years ago. However, it is unclear if the company will use the name in India.
The Baleno gets sweptback headlamps, a V-shaped honeycomb grille, a bumper with a wide air dam and round fog lamps, a roofline that slopes downwards towards the rear, a shoulder line that dips a little at the A-Pillar before rising upwards, wraparound tail lamps alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.
Reports suggest that the YRA will be powered by a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol unit, 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines and a 1.3-litre diesel power plant.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to sell the YRA through the NEXA dealership network, alongside other premium products such as the S-Cross crossover. It will be positioned above the Swift hatchback. It will take on the Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
