South Africa: 2018 Ford Figo hatchback & sedan revealed

Ford has revealed the 2018 Figo hatchback and sedan for the South African market. The updated models gets revised exteriors as well as refreshed interiors.

The cars get an updated front end featuring a new chrome grille with a silver mesh design flanked by tweaked headlamps. The front bumper has been redesigned and gets circular fog lamps surrounded by C-shaped silver inserts, while the air dam is slimmer and wider compared to the outgoing models. Moving to the rear, the cars get a tweaked bumper. While the tail lights have been carried over unchanged, the sedan no longer gets a chrome garnish on the boot lid.

On the inside, the facelift versions get a redesigned dashboard, which is similar to the one seen on the Figo Freestyle. The centre console consists of a new audio system featuring a digital display with a blue backlight.

In addition to cosmetic changes, Ford has also added a new engine to the Figo line up. Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine from Ford's Dragon Series and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

In India, Ford is expected to launch the Figo and Aspire facelifts sometime during the festive season. Engine options will include a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel with a choice of 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
