Skoda Rapid CNG spotted testing in Pune

The CNG version is likely to use the same 1.0-litre petrol engine.

A Skoda Rapid test mule was recently spotted at a CNG station in Pune, which suggests that the carmaker could soon introduce a factory-fitted CNG option in the Rapid line-up.

The Skoda Rapid does not come with a diesel engine option in the BS6 era. The only engine that is available is the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol unit that puts out 109 BHP @ 5,000 – 5,500 rpm and 175 Nm @ 1,750 – 4,000 rpm. It is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The CNG version is likely to use the same 1.0-litre petrol engine. However, we can expect a slight performance drop when running on CNG.

On the outside, the test car looks like a regular Rapid. It has a dual-tone exterior and is equipped with dual-tone alloy wheels as well.
