The upcoming Skoda Octavia RS has been spotted at a dealership in Mumbai. Bookings for the sporty version of the Octavia have already commenced and it is expected to be launched on August 30, 2017.
The Octavia RS has been spotted on a couple of occasions before, however this is the first time we get to see its interior. The first thing you notice is the three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with the vRS logo and the piano black trim. The wheel comes wrapped in perforated leather and gets contrast red stitching. The rest of the interior is wrapped in black leather and Alcantara. Sports seats in the front get integrated headrests. The door trim is designed to mimic carbon fiber. Similar faux carbon fiber trim is used around the gear lever. Further, the instrument cluster, while maintaining its twin-dial setup as the standard Octavia, gets new graphics.
Other features worth noting are the aluminium pedals, electric seats with memory function, touchscreen infotainment, vRS logo on the headrests and red inserts. Also, note that the Octavia RS gets switchable traction control, auto start/stop, park assist and parking sensors.
The car which was standing outside the dealer is painted in Race Blue and features the distinct RS body kit. It gets a black grille with chrome surround and vRS badging. A boot spoiler, chrome-tipped twin-exhaust and new design alloys are unique to this version.
At a technical preview, Skoda hinted that the Octavia RS will be offered with two engine choices: 2.0-litre TSI producing 227 BHP paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG and a 181 BHP, 2.0-litre TDI diesel offered with a similar manual or DSG gearbox. A 4x4 variant could be available with the diesel automatic. However, India specific variant details were not revealed.
