Skoda to launch Yeti facelift on September 10

Czech carmaker, Skoda displayed the facelifted Yeti at the 2014 Auto Expo, held earlier this year. The crossover was, some months later, seen testing on Indian roads. Now comes the news that the company will launch the car in India on September 10.

The Yeti’s front end has been tweaked to resemble other Skoda models like the current Octavia and Superb. It features new headlamps, wider grille, new bonnet and restyled bumper with rectangular fog lamps placed lower down and at its extreme ends. Viewed from the side, the Yeti appears unchanged. At the rear, the car gets new tail lamps and a reworked tailgate and bumper.

Internationally, the Yeti is available in two body styles - City and Outdoor. The version that we are likely to get in India is the Outdoor, which has a more rugged look, thanks to the plastic cladding around its body and bumpers and silver finish for the roof rails and skid plates.

On the inside the car gets a new steering wheel, new dashboard trim and new seat fabric. Skoda could give the car features such as keyless entry and go, cruise control, rear view camera and electrically adjustable driver's seat.

The Yeti is expected to continue with the 2.0-litre TDI engine that we are familiar with. Like earlier, the car is expected to be offered in two configurations:

  • 138 bhp, 320 Nm, 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive
  • 108 bhp, 250 Nm, 5-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive

A DSG automatic version is unlikely to be offered.
