Skoda Karoq teased, few details revealed

Skoda has released a teaser image of its Karoq SUV, which will be replacing the Yeti from Skoda's global portfolio. The automaker has also revealed a few details about the upcoming SUV. The Karoq is expected to be officially unveiled globally later this month.

Skoda is expected to carry forward the design language of its recently unveiled flagship - the Kodiaq, on to the Karoq. As a result, it will likely get a conventional SUV-like stance, as opposed to the raised hatchback-like appearance of its predecessor - the Yeti. It will be based on the MQB platform, which also underpins the Tiguan and the Audi Q2.

The automaker has further announced that the Karoq SUV will be 4,382 mm long, 1,841 mm wide and 1,605 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,638 mm on the two-wheel drive model and 2,630 mm on the all-wheel drive variants. It will have a boot capacity of 521-litre, which can be extended up to 1,630-litre by folding the back seats. The rear seats will consist of three individual sections that can be folded down or completely removed, in order to provide flexibility in the required boot space on offer.

Powertrain options on offer with the Karoq are expected to include a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol, a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI petrol, a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder TDI diesel and the range topping 2.0-litre TDI diesel. A 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG are expected to be the two transmission options on offer.
