Second-gen BMW X4 caught testing in India

The second generation BMW X4 has been spotted testing in Chennai. This is believed to be the first time that the vehicle has been seen in India.

Media reports suggest that BMW is expected to launch the X4 in India in the first half of 2019. It is likely to be imported as a completely knocked down (CKD) kit and assembled at BMW's Chennai plant. 

The second generation X4 is based on the Cluster architecture (CLAR). The car features revised styling with a new twin-kidney grille and twin-pod headlamps as well as a redesigned front bumper. It has a coupe-like roof line and comes with slim tail lamps. On the inside, it gets a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. 

In India, the BMW X4 is likely to be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 188 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. It is expected to get an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
