SCOOP: Maruti Suzuki YRA exteriors and interiors uncovered

Here are some pictures of Maruti Suzuki's upcoming YRA hatchback.

The YRA appears to carry forward the design language of the Swift, with sweptback headlamps with a V-shaped honeycomb grille. The car's front bumper has a simple design with a wide air dam and traditional fog lamps. The chrome lining on the grille and the vertical DRLs in the bumper that were seen earlier are not present here.

The YRA's ORVMs has been mounted on the car's front door rather than the A-pillar and have integrated turn-indicators. The car is seen with chrome door handles and is riding on steel wheels rather than alloys. However, if rumours are to be believed, 5-spoke alloy wheels will be available as well.

Viewed from an angle, the rear of the YRA bears a slight resemblance to a Volkswagen Polo. The rear bumper houses the number plate and reflectors at the extreme ends. There is a rear wiper and the boot seems to be pretty spacious.

Coming to the interiors, the YRA has a black dashboard with silver accents. The car's instrumentation consists of two dials and an MID. At the centre of the dashboard is an infotainment system flanked by vertical air-conditioner vents on its sides. The controls for the infotainment and air-conditioner appear to have a fresh design.

It is unclear what engines Suzuki will use in the YRA. Rumours have been doing the rounds that there could be a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol unit, a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel power plant could be used. The 1.4-litre petrol engine from the Ciaz could also be plonked under the car's hood.

The YRA will compete in the B+ segment with the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. It is likely to be launched in the second half of 2015.
