Rumour: Tata Nexon EV specs leaked

Details about the upcoming Tata Nexon EV have surfaced online.

The Nexon EV will be based on the updated Nexon. It is expected to measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width and 1,607 mm in height. While the wheelbase (2,498 mm) is likely to be unchanged, the EV could have a lower ground clearance of 209 mm instead of 215 mm. It has been reported that the Nexon EV could get a semi-independent suspension with torsion beam at the rear.

The Nexon EV will feature Tata's Ziptron technology. According to the media report, the car will come with a 28.8 kWh battery pack mounted under the floor. It powers an electric motor that is said to have an output of 127 BHP and 254 Nm.

The report states that the Nexon EV is likely to offer a maximum range of 300 km on a single charge on the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC). The battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in 1 hour using a DC fast charger, while a standard AC charger is likely to take around 8-9 hours it to recharge to 100% capacity.

The Nexon EV is likely to be offered in two variants. The higher variant could get automatic LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and features such as power folding ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, electric sunroof, push-button start with smart key and wearable key, Harman infotainment system with rear view camera and parking assist.
