Rumour: Tata H5X SUV to be called Harrier

Reports suggest that Tata is likely to name the upcoming H5X SUV the Harrier. An official announcement is expected to be made next week.

The Tata Harrier (H5X) is based on a new Omega platform and features the Impact Design 2.0 design language. Recent spy images indicate that the Harrier could get triangular headlamps and grille first seen on the H5X concept. It is expected to get 5-spoke alloy wheels while the wheel arches are lined with black plastic cladding. At the rear, the car appears to have wraparound tail lights and a roof spoiler.

Under the bonnet, the Harrier is expected to get a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 140 BHP paired with a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission. It is also expected to get independent suspension and all-wheel drive. A 7-seat version with a more powerful engine is rumoured to be in the works.

According to media reports, Tata Motors is also planning to upgrade its dealerships with a new section for its premium offerings. The Tata H5X is expected to be launched in the first half of 2019.
