Rumour: Skoda to debut new crossover in 2017

The demand for crossovers/compact SUVs is on the rise. To satiate this need, the Volkswagen group has been developing new SUVs across its brand portfolio, including Skoda. Earlier reports spoke of the Skoda Polar compact SUV, which was expected to make its debut in 2015. However, according to a report by auto-moto, a new crossover will be introduced towards the end of 2017. The model in question will not replace the Yeti and will in fact, slide under it.

It has already been confirmed that Czech car maker will launch a new 7-seater SUV. While the full size SUV will be available in both FWD and AWD variants, the entry level crossover will be a front wheel drive only model. The small SUV will be based on Volkswagen's MQB platform and is expected to share its DNA with the Volkswagen Taigun. If introduced, Skoda's SUV range will consist of at least 3 models by 2018.
