Rumour: Ola's first e-scooter to be launched in January 2021

Ola also plans to set up an e-scooter manufacturing unit in India.

According to a media report, ride-hailing firm Ola is likely to launch its first electric scooter in India in January 2021.

It has been reported that the electric scooter will be manufactured in the Netherlands and will be sold in India as well as Europe. However, there has been no official confirmation from Ola yet.

Reports suggest that Ola plans to manufacture electric 2-wheelers in India and is already in talks with four state governments. It plans to set up a production facility with a capacity of 2 million units, which would make it the largest e-scooter manufacturing plant in the world.

Earlier this year, Ola acquired Dutch electric scooter brand Etergo. The company's AppScooter has a claimed range of 241 km on a single charge.
