Rumour: Next-gen Maruti Dzire to launch in April-May 2017

As per recent media reports, Maruti Suzuki will launch the next-gen Swift Dzire in April-May 2017. These speculations are in line with earlier reports that had pointed towards the automaker's plans to launch the new-gen Dzire ahead of the Swift hatchback. The company hasn’t yet revealed any official information about the two upcoming cars and their launch windows.

The new Dzire has already been spotted testing on public roads in India. The test mules have been disguised under heavy camouflage that has successfully managed to hide detailed design cues of the car. However, an image of the new-gen Swift hatchback recently surfaced on the Internet, revealing the major cosmetic updates made on the car. The Dzire too will feature similar exterior tweaks.

Interiors of the new Dzire are expected to be different from that of the Swift. The test mules spotted on Indian roads had new AC vents and a revised dashboard layout, which is different to the interiors spotted in the new Swift's international spy shots.

No comprehensive information about the new Dzire's powertrain options is known yet. However, reports suggest that it will be powered by an updated 1.2-litre petrol, and the same 1.3-litre diesel that currently powers the Swift as well as the Dzire.
