Maruti Suzuki was supposed to introduce the next-generation Celerio in April this year. However, since India was grappling with the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic around this time, the carmaker decided to postpone the launch. Now, a recent media report suggests that the car will be launched around September.
The report also states that the Celerio will be offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine, while a more refined 1.2-litre unit will be available as an option.
The next-gen Celerio is expected to be based on the fifth-generation Heartect platform. The car looks a bit larger than the outgoing model in the spy images that we've seen till now. The car will get a revised front fascia with restyled headlamps, tail lights and bumpers.
Maruti Suzuki is also working on a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that is rumoured to debut on the XL6 around January 2022.
