Rumour: Next-gen Hyundai Creta to get 1.5L engines

According to a media report, the second-generation Hyundai Creta is likely to get BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, replacing the current crop of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engines.

The new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines are expected to produce around 115 BHP. These are likely to be offered on the Verna facelift and the Kia Seltos in the future.

In India, the new Creta is rumoured to be offered in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations for the first time. The former is expected to be launched sometime in 2020, while the 7-seater version could be introduced at a later date.

The second-generation Creta was unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2019. The new model borrows design cues from the Hyundai Palisade. It features a redesigned cascade grille flanked by split headlamps that have integrated LED daytime running lights. The car has trapezoidal tail lights and a light bar that wraps around the rear. Inside, it gets a vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel.
