Rumour: Maruti imports CKD kits of Jimny into India

It is said that Maruti Suzuki has imported multiple CKD kits of the Jimny into India. The shipments are awaiting customs clearance.

According to reports, Maruti Suzuki is looking to produce 4,000-5,000 units of the Jimny, most of which will be exported to international markets. The carmaker could launch a 5-door variant of the Jimny in India and it could be sold through Maruti's Nexa retail channel.

The fourth-generation Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. In international markets, this engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The SUV was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and Maruti could launch it in the Indian market in 2021.
