According to a media report, Mahindra is likely to discontinue the Verito and Verito Vibe. The two models have not been generating sufficient sales numbers. Team-BHP's monthly car sales analysis shows the two languishing at the bottom of the C1 Segment with sales figures in double digits.
Mahindra is unlikely to upgrade its slow-selling models to meet the upcoming BS-VI emission norms. Therefore, the Verito and Verito Vibe are most likely to be discontinued. However, the company is expected to continue sales of the eVerito - the electric version of the Verito sedan.
The Mahindra Verito was launched in 2010. It was derived from the Renault Logan. The Verito Vibe is a sub-4 m derivative of the Verito. At present, both the models are powered by a a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 64 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm.
The company is planning to concentrate its efforts on its utility vehicle (UV) business.
