According to a media report, KTM is rumoured to be working on five 490cc models for India. These are likely to include the 490 Duke, RC 490, 490 Adventure, 490 SMC R / SMR R and a 490 SM T / Enduro R.
The report states that the 490 Duke, RC 490 and 490 Adventure will share the same trellis frame. It is expected to be modified to accommodate the wider parallel-twin engine. Similarly, the Supermoto and Enduro models are likely to use a modified version of the chassis that underpins the existing models.
It has been rumoured that the 490cc, parallel-twin engine is likely to feature dual-overhead cams with 8-valves and liquid-cooling. The engine could be mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch.
The bikes are expected to sport inverted telescopic fork suspensions at the front and a monoshock at the rear, while the braking setup is likely to include disc brakes at the front and rear with dual-channel ABS.
