Earlier this week, Hyundai launched the new Verna in India with 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. Now, according to a media report, the company could launch an entry-level variant of the new Verna with a 1.4-litre engine.
It may be recalled that the previous generation Verna was offered with a 1.4-litre, 107 BHP petrol engine and a 90 BHP diesel motor. In fact, the engine is still being built for export markets. It is this same engine that could be used in the new Verna at a later date. However, Hyundai has not made any official announcement regarding this development.
The new Verna with a 1.6-litre petrol engine in base trim is priced at Rs. 8.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 1.4-litre variant is expected to be priced lower.
