Ford recently unveiled the 2018 Mustang facelift in the US markets. Since the automaker finally brought the Mustang to India in 2016, speculations about the facelift's India launch have also started flowing in. One such report claims to have received insider information, indicating that the Mustang facelift will be launched in India in early 2018.
The sixth-generation Mustang, which was revealed internationally in 2015, was the first model to come with RHD variants. This opened up new markets for the Mustang, like Europe and India. The 2017 facelift is based on the sixth-gen model, but comes with some minor tweaks.
The front gets a low-slung nose, all-LED headlights and revised bumpers with new upper and lower grilles. The side profile remains similar to the current model, while the rear gets a new set of LED taillights and a tweaked bumper. On the inside, the new Mustang gets a 12-inch all-digital LCD screen for the instrument cluster. Other changes include new seat upholstery and an updated infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The India-spec model will likely retain the 5.0-litre V8 engine. However, it will now come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, instead of the 6-speed unit found on the current model.
