Earlier this month, we had reported that Ford was planning to lunch the Ranger Raptor pickup truck in India in the second half of 2021. Now, according to a media report, the company is planning to bring the Focus hatchback and its high performance version, the Focus ST to our shores as well.
The fourth-gen Focus hatchback premiered in 2018. It is positioned above the Fiesta in the American automaker's global portfolio and competes with the Volkswagen Golf. It is powered by 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. While the former produces 123 BHP, the latter develops 158 BHP.
The Focus ST is powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine that produces 276 BHP and 420 Nm and features an anti-lag system. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The claimed 0-100 km/h time for the Ford Focus ST is under 6.0 seconds. This will be a Halo car for Ford and we expect it to be expensive.
