Earlier this week, Ford unveiled the upcoming Figo Aspire compact sedan at its new manufacturing facility in Gujarat (click here to read report). The company had disclosed that the car will be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Now, Autocar India has managed to source some more information about the power plants that are likely to be used in the Figo Aspire.
The first one is the same 1.2-litre Sigma petrol unit that has been seen in the current-generation Figo hatchback. However, Ford is expected to tweak it to produce more power. It now produces 80 bhp - a gain of 10 bhp. The engine will be mated to a manual gearbox.
The second engine for the Figo Aspire will be the familiar 1.5-litre DV5 unit, which is used in the EcoSport. However, just like the petrol unit, Ford is likely to increase its power from 89 bhp to 100 bhp.
The third power plant that the Figo Aspire is likely to be available with is a 1.5-litre Sigma petrol unit that puts out 109 bhp. It will be mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This variant of the car will be be considerably more expensive than its rivals.
The Ford Figo Aspire will be manufactured at the Sanand plant and will go on sale later this year. It will also be exported to various countries around the world.
