A Ford Endeavour has been spotted doing emissions testing runs at Chakan near Pune. It is believed to be the 2.0-litre bi-turbo variant, which is likely to be introduced in India in the coming months.
The latest rumours contradict earlier reports which suggested that the 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine was likely to be introduced on the next-generation Endeavour. This engine produces 211 BHP and 500 Nm and could be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
At present, the Endeavour is available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine equipped with a single turbocharger. It produces 168 BHP and 420 Nm and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the next-generation Endeavour is already under development. Rumours suggest that it could get a 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder petrol-hybrid producing 365 BHP and 680 Nm. While the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine is likely to be retained, the SUV could also be offered with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine option.
