Rumour: BMW 3 Series LWB to replace 3 Series GT in India

According to a media report, BMW is planning to launch the 3 Series long-wheelbase in India by mid-2021. It is believed to replace the 3 Series GT in Indian market.

Measuring 2,961 mm, the wheelbase of the stretched 3 Series is 110 mm longer than the regular model. This increases the rear seat legroom by 43 mm. The car also gets other modifications like different cushioning for the seats and headrests, wider centre armrest, panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting.

The report states that BMW might offer the 330Li variant in India. It uses a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine producing 255 BHP @ 5,000-6,500 rpm and 400 Nm @ 1,550-4,400 rpm. The car could also get a 2.0-litre diesel engine option.

India will be the first right-hand drive market to get the 3 Series LWB. At present, the car is only offered in the Chinese market.
