Rumour: 5-door Suzuki Jimny to be based on Toyota Raize

The 5-door Suzuki Jimny will be co-developed with Toyota and will be based on the Raize compact SUV.

According to a media report, the 5-door variant of the Suzuki Jimny will be co-developed with Toyota and will be based on the Raize compact SUV.

The report suggests that unlike international markets, the Jimny to be launched in India will have a commercial-oriented configuration.

Powering the Jimny could be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that does duty in cars like the Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and the Eritga. In the Ciaz, the engine produces 103 BHP and 138 Nm and is paired to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Jimny will be rear-wheel drive and will come with a selectable four-wheel-drive system.
