Rumour: 2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 to be launched in September

If recent media reports are to be believed, then Suzuki might launch the 2018 V-Strom 1000 in September 2017. The 2018 model comes with minor changes mostly in the styling department, including a 3-way adjustable windscreen and a few new colour options.

Other updates include a Bosch-sourced motion track braking system that works with the ABS for more effective braking performance, cornering ABS, easy-start system with low-rpm assist function and a combined braking system. The V-Strom doesn't get ride-by-wire unlike some of the other bikes in its segment.

The 2018 V-Strom 1000 retains the same 1,037 cc, 90-degree v-twin cylinder engine. The BS4-compliant, liquid-cooled motor pushes out 98 BHP and 103 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The adventure bike with its upright riding position gets inverted telescopic shocks with coil springs at the front and a link type setup with oil damped coil springs at the rear. The 19-inch front wheels come wrapped in 110/80 R19 tyres while the rear are 17-inchers, shrouded in 150/70 R17 tyres.

The 2018 V-Strom 1000 comes in two versions - standard and XT. It has been reported that Suzuki is more likely to launch the V-Strom 1000XT in India. While, official pricing is yet to be announced, it could be priced slightly above the outgoing model which costs Rs. 13.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
