Rumour: 2016 Jaguar XF India launch in September

Jaguar India is planning to launch the second-gen, 2016 XF sedan in September, as per recent media reports. The new XF was showcased at this year's Auto Expo, where the manufacturer confirmed that the launch will take place in the second half of 2016. It will be the second product launch from the British automaker, after the XE sedan, and will be succeeded by the launch of the F-Pace SUV in October.

Powertrain options on the 2016 XF will include both diesel and petrol engines: a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel rated at 177 BHP and 430 Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre petrol that churns out 237 BHP and 340 Nm. Both these engines will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic unit that will send power to the rear wheels.

Cosmetic changes on the outside include a wider front grille, new headlamps with LED DRLs and a redesigned bumper. The rear gets reworked LED taillights that look similar to the ones offered with the XE. It will also come with a new alloy wheel design and dual exhausts.

The second-gen XF will be offered in three trims: Pure, Prestige and Portfolio. The diesel line-up will get all three variants, while the petrol engine would not be available in the entry-level Pure trim.

Once launched, the 2016 XF will compete against the Audi A6, BMW 5-series and Mercedes Benz E-class.
