Royal Enfield Himalayan now on sale in New Delhi

Earlier this month, Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan motorcycle in India. However, it could not sell the bike in New Delhi as the state government banned the sales of two-wheelers that did not comply with BS-IV emission norms (click here to read report).

Now, the government has lifted this restriction and as a result, the company has announced that it is starting sales of the motorcycle in the capital city. The price of the bike has been pegged at Rs. 1,73,676 (on-road, Delhi).

Royal Enfield will start accepting bookings for the Himalayan across all its dealerships in New Delhi, from March 30, 2016. The bike will be available in two colour options - Granite and Snow.

The Himalayan is an adventure tourer motorcycle, built on a duplex split cradle frame designed and developed by Harris Performance. It has a telescopic fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The bike has a 220 mm ground clearance and a seat height of 800 mm.

Powering the Himalayan is a 411cc, single-cylinder, BS-III compliant petrol engine that develops 24.5 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of torque @ 4,000-4,500 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 5-speed manual gearbox. Stopping power comes from a single 300 mm disc brake at the front and a 240 mm disc brake at the rear.
