Royal Enfield Himalayan to get a road-biased variant?

Royal Enfield could be developing a road-oriented tourer-based version of the Himalayan.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan received an update just a few months ago. But, it seems the bikemaker may now be working on a new variant of the bike.

A test mule of a Himalayan has been spotted on the road and a closer look suggests that it might be a road-biased version of the bike.

At first glance, the bike looks identical to the Himalayan. However, there are a few noteworthy changes that has led to speculations of it being a new variant. The 21-inch front wheel has been replaced with a smaller sized wheel. There are no rubber gaiters on the front shock absorbers. The test bike has new tank shrouds but does not have a windscreen.

While there have been reports of a 650cc version of the Himalayan, this doesn't seem to be it. This bike seems to have the same 411cc, single-cylinder engine, which makes 24.3 BHP and 32 Nm.

Given the fact that the Himalayan was designed to go off-road, maybe there is a business case for a more road-oriented tourer-based version of the same bike.
