Route update: Hyderabad to Pune and back in Mahindra XUV700 diesel

I was driving the SUV steadily at 80-100 km/h and got a fuel efficiency of around 17 kpl.

Hi all,

Did a Hyderabad - Pune - Hyderabad for the Christmas week 24th December and 28th December with Wife, Mother and Son. Son was driving all the way till Pune and I was driving from Pune to Hyderabad. My machine - XUV 700 diesel.

24th December 2024

  • Left Ashoknagar (Himayatnagar) at 6.30 morning. Took the Lakdi Ka Pul- Tolychowky flyover - Shaikpet Flyover - Khajaguda - entered ORR at Narsingi @ 18A and exited ORR at Mutangi (Exit 3). Traffic at the hour was average and the road condition till the toll road was not smooth, about 15 kms from the Muthangi exit.
  • Had breakfast at Udipi's Upahaar on the way at about 7.30. Food was good but a little pricy I thought.
  • Fuelled up at Jubilee Petroleum near Basavakalyan exit. The diesel price was 89.48 with 829 density. Always try to tank up in Karnataka because of price.
  • Stopped at Hotel Jayshankar for Missal Pav at Lamboti at around 13.30. Too spicy for my comfort. Had Khawa Chai which they call Kunda Chai. Liked it as it was unique and I was having it for the first time.
  • Another stop for normal adrak chai at 16.30.
  • Traffic started to slowly increase from Urli / Loni and after Fatima Nagar / Hadapsar it was seriously heavy. We were moving at a snail's pace and took more than 2 hrs from Hadapsar to Aundh.
  • Road was good all the way till we entered Maharashtra. Some of the stretches were awesome with newly laid bitumen. Most of the stretch has tire ways on the right lane.
  • Couple of speed breakers were not visible even on a bright day as there were no white markers on them. You get to see them only when you are near and you have the option of sudden brake or break the suspension.
  • Was driving steadily at 80 - 100 and I got a mileage of around 17 Km/ Ltr.

But overall the drive was not tiresome and we enjoyed the journey and will do the drive again if I have a day to spare.

Best luck to all in the New Year.
