Named after the largest diamond ever discovered, Rolls Royce has unveiled the Cullinan, its first ever SUV.
The Rolls Royce Cullinan is based on the new aluminium spaceframe chassis which also underpins the latest generation Phantom. At the front, it has a rectangular grille similar to other Rolls Royce cars, and rectangular LED headlights with L-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper comes with an integrated scuff plate. The SUV has a bold shoulder line that extends along the length of the Cullinan. Like all Rolls Royce cars, the Cullinan too gets suicide doors. At the rear, the Cullinan features a raked rear windshield, a split rear tailgate and rectangular LED tail lights. The rear bumper has twin-chrome exhausts and gets an integrated scuff plate. The SUV rides on 22-inch wheels.
On the inside, the Cullinan gets a leather and wood finished dashboard with a centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment system. It gets circular air-conditioning vents finished in chrome and a 3-spoke steering wheel. The Cullinan will be offered in two configurations for rear seating. Depending on the configuration, the SUV can seat 2 or 3 people at the back. The cabin features a rear partition wall that separates the passenger compartment from the luggage area.
The boot capacity is 560 litres (600 litres with the rear parcel shelf removed) and it can be increased to 1,930 litres by lowering the rear seats. The boot floor can be electronically raised to create a flat floor and increase the loading length to 2,245mm. Rolls Royce also offers an electronically deployable picnic bench which folds out of the rear luggage compartment. It consists of two leather-lined seats and a small table in between. It is available as part of the Rolls-Royce Recreation Module.
The Rolls Royce Cullinan is powered by a 6.75-litre, twin-turbo V12 engine which produces 563 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 850 Nm of torque @ 1,600 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an all-new all-wheel-drive system. The SUV rides on air-suspension and comes with rear-axle steering.
The Cullinan comes loaded with features like Night Vision and Vision Assist with wildlife and pedestrian warning, Alertness Assistant, Panoramic camera with helicopter view, Active Cruise Control, Collision Warning, Cross-Traffic Warning, Lane Departure and Lane Change Warning.
