R.I.P. Dilip Bam

One of the most well-known two-wheeler journalists in the country, Dilip Bam passed away on October 13, 2016. Born on January 4, 1947, Mr. Bam had a bike testing experience of over 26 years.

A mechanical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mr. Bam went on to pursue his MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He began his bike testing career with the Car and Bike International magazine in June 1987. In 1993, he switched to Auto India. He has also written for Indian Auto Journal, Bike2Car & Motorindia. His work was often published in national newspapers like Times of India and Indian Express.

Mr. Bam's name appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records after he became the first man in the world to cross the entire length of the Sahara desert in 1992, on a non-geared Kinetic Honda scooter. Being an avid traveller, Mr. Bam had ridden from Kashmir to Kanyakumari thrice. He also did a Pune to Kanyakumari trip in 2007, at the age of 60.
