Renault Kwid launched in India at Rs. 2.57 lakh!

The Renault Kwid has been officially launched in India, priced between Rs. 2.57 - 3.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

With 98% of localization at the time of its launch, Renault has managed to price this hatchback aggressively and much lower than what the company had initially promised of Rs. 3-4 lakhs. It seems like Renault hasn't left any stone unturned to take on India's largest selling car - Maruti's Alto 800 and Hyundai's Eon head-on. At this price, it will surely attract Tata Nano buyers too.

The Kwid is the largest car among its competitors measuring 3,679 mm x 1,579 mm x 1,478 mm (L x B x H respectively). It has a wheelbase of 2,422 mm and boasts of a 300 litre boot space and 180 mm of ground clearance too.

This car is powered by a 0.8 litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces 53 BHP / 72 Nm. What's surprising is the car's power-to-weight ratio of 85 BHP / ton due to its 660 kg kerb weight. This motor has an ARAI certified figure of 25.17 kmpl.

The Kwid is available in 6 variants - STD, RXE, RXE (O), RXL, RXT and RXT (O). The RXT variant gets features such as a 7" touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation, Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in. It will also feature an optional driver airbag on the top RXT variant. The car will be available in 5 colours - Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Outback Bronze and Planet Grey.

Deliveries for the Kwid are likely to begin in the festive season. The car comes with a 2 year / 50,000 km standard warranty, extendable upto 4 years / 80,000 km.

Ex-showroom Delhi prices (in lakhs) of the Kwid are as below:
STD: Rs. 2.57
RXE: Rs. 2.89
RXE (O): Rs. 2.95
RXL: Rs: Rs. 3.12
