Gearbox problem in Kia Seltos DCT

According to sandygordon, the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) of his Kia Seltos gets stuck in 2nd gear and then, directly upshifts to 4th gear. This has happened not once, but thrice in the past month. Similarly, while downshifting too, it goes directly to D2 from D4 and skips D3. The car doesn't go into D1 at all.

Restarting the car appears to fix the issue temporarily. Upon visiting the service centre, the owner was told that it was a niggle with the code that prevents the odd gear actuator from activating the 1st, 3rd and 5th gears. They reportedly said that they have refreshed it and did not see any error on diagnostics. The owner was also asked to make a video the next time it happened. Take look at the video here.

BHPian d3mon also highlighted that this issue was known in Korea and a recall has been initiated for the same. A Google translation of the notice reveals that "Some DCT models are suffering an issue that only drives with 2nd, 4th, 6th gear. 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th gears are not working."  The reason for the failure could be mechanical.
