Poor part quality on Skoda Slavia AT? Shifter knob selector coming off

This happened with light use and the car was just in the parking and suddenly he observed that half of the knob had fell off.

BHPian pratyush369 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

My friend owns a Slavia 1.0 AT, the gear shifter knob's selector lock switch came off on it's own. My friend keeps his car in immaculate and is very disappointed with the build quality. This happened with light use and the car was just in the parking and suddenly he observed that half of the knob had fell off.

I have suggested him to get it replaced under warranty, can other Slavia owners share if they've had similar experience with their machines?

Here's what BHPian rayjaycleoful had to add to this matter:

Our situation was worse - the button's spring came out too. It is since then taped up.

Here's what BHPian Shanksta had to say about this as well:

I just posted the issue as I thought it was only me facing it. But shocked and surprised to note so many of us facing the same issue. Compiling the same for future reference.

It clearly seems to be a case of the shift lock button being of bad quality. Also pretty frustrating to note that Škoda has rejected warranty replacement for rayjaycleoful.

I will be taking my car to the service centre and will hopefully get it replaced under warranty.

Meanwhile, here's BHPian karan561's experience:

This happened on our Skoda Kushaq 1L A/T as well, got a new one installed under warranty.

Here's BHPian drnikhil911's reply to this matter:

This happened in my 2 year old Kushaq 1.5DSG as well got it replaced under warranty. They said the part number has changed now and I had to wait almost a month for parts to arrive. Now it is working fine hopefully doesn’t recur.
