Pre-bookings of the Nissan Terrano, a badge engineered SUV based on the Renault Duster, officially open today. The Terrano SUV will share its mechanical bits, including engines and transmissions, with the Duster and this is evident from the variant details that have been revealed on the SUV's official website.
On the outside, Nissan has given the Terrano sheet metal changes, in order to differentiate the SUV from the Renault Duster. These sheet metal changes do make the SUV look different from the Duster when viewed from the front and the rear. However, the profile of the Terrano does remain very similar to that of the Duster.
Coming to the variant details of the Terrano, the SUV is available in 7 versions and six colours,
- XE 1.5 liter K9K turbo diesel (85 PS-200 Nm) with 5 speed manual gearbox: Front and rear power windows, driver side airbag and multi-information display

From the variant details, it is evident that Nissan India is targeting a premium price and positioning for the Terrano. The SUV is expected to sit above the Duster, at a premium of about 50,000 rupees. The extra equipment, right from the base variant of the Terrano is an attempt to justify the higher price. Prices of the Terrano will be announced at the time of the SUV's official launch, which will happen shortly.
