Nissan to launch redesigned Evalia by year end

Nissan Motor India is planning to introduce a redesigned Evalia MUV in the market by the end of 2014. The company claims that the vehicle has been revamped after taking consumer feedback into consideration.

The Nissan Evalia is a very capable vehicle when it comes to moving people. It has spacious interiors, three usable rows of seats and good luggage carrying capacity. Its 1.5-litre, diesel engine is a proven workhorse which coupled with the light steering and gearbox, it makes the MUV very drivable in the city. The vehicle is also loaded with safety features like ABS, EBD, BA and optional airbags.

However, the Evalia has been a slow seller. While it has its strong points, there are many areas that need to be addressed. The most obvious among them is the look of the vehicle. It looks like a commercial van which makes it totally unappealing to Indian buyers. To make it more acceptable, Nissan will have to give it an extensive makeover. Other issues include dull interiors, lack of AC vents for the middle row, open glove box and fixed windows for the third row.

At the 2014 Auto Expo, Nissan had showcased an Evalia in which it had addressed some of these issues.

Nissan is also planning to introduce an upgraded Sunny sedan and the Datsun GO+ MPV during the year.
