Next-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior revealed

Mercedes-Benz has officially released images of the W213 E-Class's interior. The design comes as no surprise, and like the exterior, the new E-Class shares its styling with current S-Class and C-Class.

The dashboard features wide, high-resolution (1920 x 720 pixels) dual displays (12.3 inches per display) that merge to form a wide screen cockpit for the driver. The screens also come with three display styles i.e. "Classic", "Sport" and "Progressive". The entry-level model of the new E-Class combines two tube-type round dials and a 17.8 cm colour display cluster (1000 x 600-pixel resolution) with a central display with a 21.3 cm screen diagonal (960 x 540-pixel resolution).

The new steering wheel features touch-sensitive controls. These controls feature in a car for the very first time and use finger swipes to control the infotainment system. Other features include ambient lighting with 64 colour options, the 2nd generation Burmester 3D surround 23 speaker sound system (including four roof speakers) and multibeam LED headlamps with 84 individual LEDs in each headlamp.

The car is expected to make its public debut at the Detroit motor show in January 2016 in its sedan avatar, before a wagon, coupe and convertible are introduced later on.
