Next-gen Volkswagen Polo sedan (Vento) spotted in Brazil

Volkswagen has been working on the new-gen Polo since a fairly long time. Multiple spy shots of early prototypes of the new-gen Polo have already surfaced on the Internet. With development of the new Polo in its final stages, Volkswagen now appears to have started work on the Polo-based sedan, which is sold as the VW Vento in India. A heavily camouflaged test mule of the new-gen Vento was recently spotted in Brazil.

Like the new Polo, the next-gen Vento will also be based on Volkswagen's MQB A0 platform. The new Vento will have a 2,560 mm wheelbase, 7 mm more than the model it will replace. The longer wheelbase is expected to translate into slightly better cabin space. The new model will be around 70 kg lighter than the current Vento. The spotted test mule's heavy camouflage successfully disguises major design elements of the car, though reports suggest it to come with LED headlamps and taillights, DRLs, new bumpers, a redesigned C-pillar, and a higher boot lid.

On the inside, the new-gen Polo sedan is expected to come with a new dashboard layout, an advanced touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while other features on offer will include automatic climate control, cruise control and ambient lighting.

For the Indian market, the new-gen VW Vento will likely continue with the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG.
