Recently, the next-generation Skoda Superb was spotted testing in Europe. The company then released the official sketch of the car and now, a fresh set of images have surfaced in which the car is seen with minimal camouflage.
The new Superb will use the same MQB platform as the Volkswagen Passat. It will be 20 mm longer and 50 mm wider than the current model. However, it is also expected to be lighter than the present-day car by 75 kg. The new car's wheelbase will gain 80 mm, which should translate into better interior legroom. The boot capacity of the car is expected to be 625 litres, which can be increased to 1,760 litres by folding the rear seats. The Superb's design is likely to be heavily influenced by the VisionC concept.
The next-generation Superb is likely to borrow its engines from the 2015 Volkswagen Passat. Engine options are likely to include 1.6L-2.0L TDI and 1.4L-1.8L TSI engines.
Skoda is likely to unveil the 2016 Superb in February 2015. The car will make its public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March.
