NASCAR-based 1990 movie "Days of Thunder" could get a sequel

The original 'Days of Thunder' received mixed reactions at the time of its release.

According to reports, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is keen on working on a sequel to his 1990 NASCAR-based movie "Days of Thunder."

The 1990 movie is about a talented driver making his way through NASCAR while dealing with rivalries and other aspects on and off track. The movie was directed by Tony Scott, produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, and the music was by Hans Zimmer.

The original 'Days of Thunder' received mixed reactions at the time of its release. However, as per reports, the recent popularity of racing & motorsport-related movies suggests there could be an audience for a movie based on NASCAR.

Tom Cruise is said to be in talks with production studio Paramount for a sequel to Days of Thunder. Reports mention how Paramount had earlier pitched a Days of Thunder television series, which was shut down by Cruise. It is said that the actor has the final script approval for all his projects.
