A test mule of the next generation Porsche 911 has been spied. The vehicle spotted is wearing the body of the current 911 (code - 991) and is believed to be a chassis test mule for the next-gen 911 (code - 992).
The extended wheel arches of the test mule suggest that the car will get a wider rear axle with room being made for a new / updated powertrain as well. It has reportedly been confirmed that the new 911 will get a hybrid option, with the regular variants using a reworked version of the same 3.0L, six-cylinder engine as the current car. While Porsche has denied the rumours, there is talk of a fully-electric variant as well.
Given that this is a 911, the cosmetic changes won't be monumental and will be more evolutionary. The new 911 could be revealed in 2018.
