Is this the next-gen Hyundai Elantra?

An image of what is believed to be the 2016 Hyundai Elantra has surfaced on the internet.

The next-generation Elantra is expected to be based on a new-platform. Going by the image, the front of the car is radically different to the current model. There is a large, hexagonal radiator grille with chrome slats, which resembles that of some other Hyundai cars, projector headlamps, LED turn indicators, a restyled bumper with vertical LED daytime running lights and turn indicators on the ORVMs.

The 2016 Elantra is expected to be powered by a new 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which puts out 174 bhp. The engine is likely to be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai could showcase the 2016 Elantra in Korea next month. It is rumoured that the car could be on sale in Korea by mid-2015. More details on the car are awaited.
