The new BMW 5-Series is yet to make its official debut, but a spy shot of a test mule gives us a closer look at the new car's dashboard. If the new 7-Series's interior is anything to go by, it's no surprise that the changes made to the dashboard, at least on the surface, aren't monumental and the styling is reflection of the G11's interior.
The car features a new steering wheel that is similar to the one seen on the new 7-Series, complete with the silver garnish and mounted controls, a large free standing display that props out of the dashboard, a restyled gear selector, a larger dashboard cowl above the instrument cluster and new AC vents.
Modular design architectures have enabled more part sharing and economies of scale, but that also means that car designs have become more similar. Effectively, the G30 5-Series will offer similar features as the G11 7-Series, but with relatively lower interior room. The new 5-Series will weigh less than the current model with features like full LED headlights and optional laser headlights likely to make their way to the menu. Other features like gesture control, Apple CarPlay and 4 zone climate control could be offered as well.
