Near-miss: How an errant Glanza driver almost side-swiped me

I had no view of the Glanza on my left. I feel very lucky to notice it at the last second.

Narrow miss at 20sec. (Video)

Here's what BHPian asmr had to say on the matter:

The Glanza was trying to make it before the bus but displays poor judgement and attempts a risky lane at the last minute to avoid getting smashed by the bus. Which is to say, unfortunately, is very typical on our roads.

This is the turn that comes between Saidapet and Guindy, where traffic from Raj Bhavan merges? Almost every other driver heading in to that turn drives in such a way that 2 lanes becomes 4 or even 6 lines of vehicles, each jostling with other vehicles to get back in to the 2 lanes after the turn.

This also leads to a signal that has 2 sections (one before the signal to Velachery and one after the signal) with traffic crossing left to right and right to left in each of those.

Both the turn and the intersections are bad in terms of design as well as driver behaviors, especially during peak hours.

Here's what BHPian electric_eel had to say on the matter:

Such poor driving by the Glanza. What exactly did he achieve for the risk taken, a few Plank time ? It takes exceptional "talents" to get into trouble at such low speeds. Unfortunately our streets are full of such gems.

Here's what BHPian King_Julien had to say on the matter:

Yes, this is the road between Saidapet and Guindy in Chennai. In my opinion, this entire stretch is poorly designed. Even when driving carefully, it feels as though the vehicle could get scratched at any moment.
