The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet has marked its global premiere at the ongoing Los Angeles Motor Show. It is the first open-top model to be introduced under the luxury-oriented Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand. The Maybach S650 Cabriolet is based on the S-Cabriolet, which was recently launched in India. It will be a limited edition model, with the production limited to just 300 units.
The S650 Cabriolet is powered by the same 6.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 engine found in the Mercedes-AMG S65 saloon. It generates 621 BHP and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm. This engine grunt is delivered to the rear wheels through a seven-speed 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox.
In order to differentiate the S650-Cabriolet from the regular models, multiple design changes have been made. These include a new front bumper, Swarovski crystal-encrusted headlamps and added chrome elements. The 20-inch Maybach forged duotone alloy wheels also come as standard. Maybach emblems are located in the front grille, front fenders and lower boot lid.
The interiors get full leather upholstery with nut brown magnolia trim. Maybach logos are placed on the steering wheel, centre console, seats and rear of the head rests. It also gets an entrance lighting function which projects the Maybach logo on the floor when the door is opened. All options available on the S-Class Cabriolet are offered as standard on the Maybach. These include the Airscarf neck ventilation system and the Aircap wind reduction system.
The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet will go on sale in the second quarter of 2017.
