Mercedes-Maybach S600 imported into India; launch nearing?

Mercedes-Benz has imported one unit of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 sedan into India indicating that the launch of the brand is nearing.

The Maybach S600 measures 5,453 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,365 mm making it 207 mm longer in overall length and 200 mm longer in wheelbase length than the regular S-Class. Due to the extended wheelbase it has more room on the inside.

On the cosmetic front, the Maybach S600 has a tweaked grille, different alloy wheels, Maybach logos on the C-pillars and Maybach lettering on the boot lid. The rear door ends before the C-pillar.

Coming to the interiors, the Maybach logo can be found embossed at multiple places on the upholstery. Rear passengers get executive seats with individually adjustable backrests. The seat cushion can also be individually adjusted with inclination and horizontal adjustment combined.

Powering the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 is a 6.0-litre, V12, bi-turbo engine that produces 523 bhp of power and 830 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

In 2004, Maybach was introduced in India as a separate brand. The car did not find any takers and with time, Mercedes-Benz pulled it out of India and global markets. This time, the company is introducing it as a sub-brand.
