The Maybach moniker made its comeback with the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class alone. However, if the limousine proves to be a successful offering, the German car maker may expand its Maybach range with more models.
Dr Hermann-Joseph Storp, development director for the S-class said Maybach versions of the E-Class sedan and GLS-Class SUV could be developed. A Maybach version of the S-Class Coupe could also be produced. Storp added that it would take around 2 years to rework an existing model as a Maybach.
A diesel powered Maybach may also be on the books. Storp stated it would take only around a year to add a new engine option to the line-up. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is currently available with V12 and V8 petrol engines in Europe. A China specific 6-cylinder petrol will also be offered.
