Mercedes Benz launches "My Mercedes" service initiative

German luxury car giant Mercedes Benz has launched a product offensive in India with the MFA range of entry-level luxury cars. The luxury car maker has managed to gain market share through these launches, even moving ahead of incumbent market leader Audi in July 2013 sales.

Mercedes Benz has followed up on its car launch blitz by launching the "My Mercedes" service initiative. The "My Mercedes" service initiative comes with a host of programs designed to improve the service experience of Mercedes Benz car owners while also reducing the cost of ownership.

Here are highlights of the My Mercedes program:

  • Online Service Booking
This service allows Mercedes Benz owners to scan QR codes through their smart phones and tablets for online booking of service.

  • National Remote Diagnostic Center
Mercedes Benz technical experts in Pune sync up with technicians working in Mercedes Benz dealerships across the country. The technical experts use audio-video communication facilities to diagnose problems remotely for faster resolution of problems. This service will also be used in the future to conduct training programs for Mercedes Benz technicians.

  • Star Care Best-in-Class 3 year Warranty across Mercedes Benz's Indian line up
All Mercedes Benz cars and SUVs sold in India get a 3 year warranty, a best-in-class feature according to the German luxury car maker.

  • Star Care Plus Extended Warranty
Mercedes Benz offers owners the option of availing an additional year of warranty, on top of the 3 years regular warranty, through the Star Care Plus Extended Warranty. The extended warranty is said to be priced nominally.

  • Star Care Ease
The Star Care Ease maintenance package is Mercedes Benz's version of the BMW Service Inclusive (BSI) maintenance packs. The Star Care Ease package allows Mercedes Benz owners to get a handle on the service costs of their vehicles.

  • A fleet of 20 B-Class Service Vehicles

A fleet of 20 B-Class hatchbacks function as road-side assistance vehicles that will locate and assist Mercedes Benz car owners in case of breakdowns and other roadside emergencies. This service will operate across 266 Indian cities on a 24X7 basis.

The on-road assistance service is standard on all Mercedes Benz cars for the first three years of ownership. Additional coverage for the 4th and 5th year can be purchased at a cost of 3,499 rupees per year.
